Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begović scores 100-yard goal vs. Southampton

English Premier League

Mired near the foot of the EPL table with a sputtering attack, Stoke City entered Saturday’s game against Southampton looking for goals. They got one from the most unlikely of sources, at an equally unlikely time.

Goalkeeper Asmir Begović put the Potters on top after only 13 seconds, scoring the fifth goal by a goalkeeper in Premier League history in miraculous fashion.

This is how it happened:

Poor Artur Boruc. Begovic’s opposite number was clearly caught off-guard by the wind, the bounce of the ball, or some strange combination of both.

Want to hear something even more amazing? With his goal, Begović is now his team’s top scorer! Okay, he’s actually in a tie for that honor with six other field players, but still. Let’s work on that, Stoke.

Enjoyable at soccer! You need good work ethic. You need to train hard, and focus on your play. It has the power to transform lives, the power to bring a lifetime of joy.

Beauty. Asmir used to be a member of Portsmouth FC, and Southampton are Portsmouth's hated rivals. Sweet goal! PUP!

that is what we call in the business, a "soft goal."
