You can add Chelsea’s Samuel Eto’o to the list of players that Toronto FC is speaking to in the MLS club’s search to add two Designated Players for 2014, a high-ranking source with the club tells SI.com.

The Cameroonian Eto’o, 32, is on a one-year contract with Chelsea and could be obtained on a free transfer at the end of this European season. He has won three UEFA Champions League titles, two with Barcelona and one with Inter Milan.

Eto’o has had a good week, having scored two goals for Chelsea against Schalke on Wednesday in Champions League and one against West Brom on Saturday in the Premier League. He joins Tottenham’s Jermain Defoe and Genoa’s Alberto Gilardino as forwards who have been contacted by Toronto in their pursuit of upgrades for next season.

when your real career is over, look to the MLS, where dinosaurs go to 'play' a bit longer.

There have been some misses but there have been guys who have contributed like Keane, Beckham, Henry and Cuautemoc Blanco

DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR OUT OF THIS CLUB.  They might "target" these guys, but will undoubtedly end up with the dregs of some third-tier South American league.

@matlewy This is right in the MLS' wheelhouse.  A mid 30's player on the downside of his career looking for a big payday
