Aron Jóhannsson established a bit of momentum heading into the international break and celebrated his 23rd birthday in style with both goals in AZ Alkmaar’s 2-2 draw at Feyenoord on Sunday (video after the jump).

The newly minted U.S. national team forward now has 14 goals in all club competitions this season, and there still are around six months to go.

Jóhannsson opened the scoring in Rotterdam in the 17th minute when he finished off a cross from Johann Gudmundsson, who plays for the Icelandic national team that Jóhannsson spurned in favor of the U.S.

Feyenoord stormed back to take a 2-1 lead, but Jóhannsson leveled the score with a 57th-minute penalty kick. AZ forward Roy Beerens drew the foul along the right edge of the penalty area and Jóhannsson placed the subsequent spot kick just inside the right post. He now has nine goals in Eredivisie play.

AZ (7-4-2) climbed to second place with the draw, one point behind Vitesse Arnhem and one point ahead of reigning champion Ajax Amsterdam. AZ will be off next weekend and will resume play on Nov. 23 vs. Roda JC. Jóhannsson likely will head to Scotland to join up with the U.S. ahead of Friday’s friendly.

A 30 second pre-roll ad for a 39 second video? Ridiculous,  I guess I won't be watching any videos on this site,
