If you thought the first leg between Portugal and Sweden didn’t live up to the hype, the individual matchup between Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the second leg of their World Cup qualifying playoff more than made up for it.

With a place in the World Cup on the line, the two stars put their teams on their respective backs, with Ronaldo’s hat trick outlasting Ibrahimovic’s double to cement Portugal’s place in Brazil.

With Ronaldo’s goal in the first leg, the Real Madrid man scored all four of his side’s goals in the playoff, adding to his case for this year’s Ballon d’Or award. Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, made sure to bow out in style, with his corner kick header and absolute laser of a free kick singlehandedly keeping Sweden alive until Ronaldo slammed the door shut.

Highlights of the masterclass showing by the two stars are below:

And he is fun to watch, clipperzfan. Some players are just a treat to see play. Ronaldo is definitely one.

The goals today were incredible.  Cristiano proves once again why he's head and shoulders, both literally and figuratively, above the rat looking messi.  He doesn't need a team of all stars to excel, he's a beast no matter who else is out there with him.
